- "Each hive ship acts like a carrier group, with cruisers and hundreds of Darts escorting it."
- — John Sheppard
A Wraith Cruiser is a vessel used by the Wraith as escorts to their hive ships as support and resupply ships. Cruisers can also function as stand alone ships capable of culling planets.

Overview
Locations
Bridge
Cruisers have a bridge where the crew can man the ships controls using standing consoles similar to those on hive ships and they can view the entire information from the ship including dart deployment and sensor data. (ATL: "The Kindred, Part 1", "The Kindred, Part 2", "Search and Rescue")
Drive room
The drive room is a location in the ship where the cruisers hyperdrive core is located, suspended from the ceiling and surrounded by several consoles. Damage to this room can disable the hyperdrive to varying degrees. (ATL: "Search and Rescue")
Holding area
Like hive ships, the cruisers have holding areas with cells for prisoners and victims. (ATL: "Search and Rescue")
Labs
The ships also have small laboratories in them for various studies such as medical experiments with some technology and equipment to help facilitate this research. (ATL: "The Kindred, Part 2", "Search and Rescue")
Dart bay
Cruisers also have large dart bays for holding and launching darts to help with attacks, defense and cullings. These bays are accessed through a large door on the side of the ship and contain several walkways and platforms for holing the darts. (ATL: "Search and Rescue")
Technology
Sensors
- Main article: Sensors
Cruisers posses sensors capable of detecting other ships. These sensors can also detect whether hyperdrives are online, shield strength, weapons status, life signs and power sources. The sensors are not able to detect ships in hyperspace and are limited in range. Wraith sensors also detect nearby Wraith and can activate the ships systems. (ATL: "Search and Rescue", "The Queen", "Spoils of War", "Misbegotten")
Neural interface
- Main article: Neural interface
For the major systems of the ship such as propulsion, navigation and weapons to be activated the user requires Wraith DNA, while some of the minor systems are simple systems to activate. Some other technology on the ship such as some door controls can be activated via their telepathic abilities. (ATL: "Misbegotten", "Spoils of War", "Rising")
Engines
Hyperdrive
The Wraith hyperdrives are not as efficient as the hyperdrives of other races. They are severely limited in both speed and duration due to the lack of appropriate power sources. The hyperdrive on Cruisers appear to be a large pylon that hangs down from the ceiling with thick veins spreading out to the walls. There are some consoles located around it. (ATL: "Search and Rescue")
Sublight engines
- Main article: Sublight engines
Cruisers have sublight engines capable of moving the ship through space and even used for entry and egress in and out of a planet's atmosphere. The ships smaller size makes it easier for them to maneuver in atmosphere. (ATL: "Condemned", "Search and Rescue")
Armament
Energy weapons
- Main article: Wraith Energy weapon
Cruisers have powerful energy weapons capable of draining shields in very few hits and destruction on a large scale. The energy output appears to be able to be varied to cause destruction to ships but also be able to cause small explosions on planets surfaces to scare the inhabitants. (ATL: "Condemned", "Search and Rescue")
Darts
- Main article: Darts
Cruisers can house dozens of darts in large hangar bays. The darts are used for close combat attacks and defense of themselves and any hives they escort as well as being used to cull the planets the cruisers visit. (ATL: "Search and Rescue")
Known cruisers
The amount of cruisers in the galaxy is unknown however many of them have been destroyed in battle with the Tau'ri and the Asurans as well as with one another during the Wraith civil war.
A list of known cruisers:- Nine cruisers escorted the first wave of hive ships to Atlantis, however none of them were destroyed. (ATL: "Letters from Pegasus", "The Siege, Part 1", "The Siege, Part 2", "The Siege, Part 3")
- Three cruisers entered orbit of Olesia to cull, one was damaged by a drone. (ATL: "Condemned")
- Two cruisers answered a distress signal from the Ancient vessel Aurora and were destroyed in the ships self-destruct blast. (ATL: "Aurora")
- One cruiser was still located on the surface of a planet and Aiden Ford was taken aboard. (ATL: "The Lost Boys")
- One cruiser was shot down during the First Siege of Atlantis 10,000 years ago and submerged itself under the ocean. (ATL: "Submersion")
- One cruiser attacked the Aurora-class warship controlled by the Travelers but was destroyed by the ships drones. (ATL: "Travelers")
- One cruiser used by Michael Kenmore as his base of operations. Was destroyed over M2S-445. (ATL: "The Kindred, Part 2", "Search and Rescue")
- Two cruisers commanded by Todd and destroyed when they used their hyperdrives after the Attero Device had been activated. (ATL: "First Contact")
...this puts the number destroyed at 7 destroyed and at least 9 cruisers in total.
