- "Look, it's an A.I., an artificial intelligence. It can think for itself, adapt itself to new situations..."
- — Rodney McKay
The Wraith Computer virus is a program created by the Wraith in order to take over the Daedalus.
Overview
The virus is an artificial intelligence and is capable of adapting itself to new situations in order to complete its goals. The virus started as a small compressed program but over time it decompresses and spreads into every system in order to control. (ATL: "The Intruder")
History
The Daedalus was found to have one of these viruses in its systems on its way back to Atlantis. The virus was discovered by Dr. Monroe and it reacted by transferring a lethal dose of electricity through a wall panel and killed him. Later when trying to fix check some systems Dr. Lindstrom was trapped within an airlock and sucked out into space. Hermiod discovered the virus and Rodney McKay discovers it was of Wraith origin. The ships communication system was activated, which would alert the Wraith as to their location, and John Sheppard piloted an F-302 and shot the communications array off the ship, however the virus had infected the F-302 and Sheppard had to be beamed off and back to the ship. The crew performed a computer shutdown to purge the system but the virus stowed away inside the F-302 computer modules and reinfected the system. They pulled the modules from the F-302's and reset the system but once again the virus reinfected it and the crew realized that the F-302 Sheppard had flown was following them and reinfecting the ship. The virus piloted the Daedalus on a near collision with a star which would kill all the crew. The F-302 was destroyed and another reset cleaned the system. (ATL: "The Intruder")
