Travora (Animalia Chordata Mammalia Primates Strepsirrhini) is a native species to P9J-333 and several moons.

Overview

Biology

A shy and docile herbivore, it is some form of primate that looks like a fox crossed with a slim bear. They are nocturnal and have large reflective eyes for enhanced night vision. The typical adult male will grow to be between 160-190 pounds.

The creatures live primarily in the tree tops of the Ardulla Tree but occassionally come down to the ground. They have long strong claws that they use to dig out small termite-like grubs from rotting trees. Their main staple diet is the tender new growth found in the highest parts of the Ardulla trees. The Travora thrives in lush surroundings without threat of predators.

History

Every 20 years or so, aliens from a neighboring planet, P3X-244 participate in a mass culling of the creatures, which they use and sell their furs and the oils from their bladders. Despite this and due to the creatures shy and reclusive nature, the populations have remained stable.

One of the Travora was infected by the Interdimensional parasite and mutated into an aggressive and carnivourous creature attacking, injuring and killing several inhabitants of P9J-333 and some members of SG-25. The creature was blown apart by Teal'c. (SG1: "Uninvited")
