Physiology

The Tau'ri have been mentioned as being among the most physiologically advanced of the human species in the known universe. The Asgard Loki believed that the Tau'ri held the key to solving the genetic problems in his race and ran experiments on captured Tau'ri. The Tau'ri also have a significant amount of Ancient DNA in the physical makeup resulting in several people having the ATA gene most likely from interbreeding several thousand years ago. The humans on Earth have been known to have developed into modern humans (Homo sapiens) from at least two other previous evolutionary forms Australopithecus and Homo erectus. (SG1: "The Fifth Race", "Fragile Balance", "The Broca Divide", ATL: "Rising")

Culture

Tau'ri have a widely dispersed culture, influenced by their ancestors and intervention by the Goa'uld and Asgard as well as varyign religious beliefs. Certain parts of the Earth share a culture of freedom and sought to share that with the rest of the universe by helping to defeat the Goa'uld and the Ori. The Tau'ri have engaged in peacekeeping and medical and relief aide to other planets and have sent large groups of people to other planets and galaxies in an effort to both gather advanced technology and help others. Technology

A 304
Main article: Tau'ri technology

The Tau'ri were relatively advanced compared to most races in the Milky Way and Pegasus galaxies and had weaponry capable of effective combat with more advanced races such as the Goa'uld. Using technologies gained offworld from more advanced sources the Tau'ri augmented their own technology to the point of surpassing that of other races, particularly using Asgard and Ancient technology, however the extent of the technology being available to the general public is not very widespread. (SG1: "Children of the Gods", "The Warrior", "Prometheus", "Avenger 2.0")

Fleet

Main article: Tau'ri fleet

The Tau'ri had a fairly primitive space fleet in comparison with galactic standards however when alien technology began to become integrated and reverse-engineered, their space technology jumped considerably. The US military created several space vessels capable of faster-than-light travel and began construction on a small powerful fleet to contend with the Goa'uld and the Ori. (SG1: "Enigma", "Tangent", "Redemption, Part 1", "Prometheus", "Camelot")

Creation

The genetic building blocks of the Tau'ri were placed on Earth at some point millions of years ago which over the years evolved into modern humans. At least one tribe of modern humans was present in Africa, having very primitive technology such as spears and living in simple housing structures. (SG1: "Frozen", "The Enemy Within", Stargate)

Goa'uld rule

The Egyptian rebellion

Around 8,000 years ago, the Goa'uld Ra arrived at Earth and found these humans, taking one as a host and taking more as slaves. For around 3,000 years the Tau'ri were taken by numerous Goa'uld out into the galaxy as slaves. In 2,995 BC an uprising, instigated by an alternate SG-1 who had traveled back in time, took place in Egypt and Ra's forces were overthrown, causing him to flee the planet and never return. For five thousands years the Tau'ri spread across Earth and populated the planet and without interference from the Goa'uld, the population became one of the largest on any planet in the galaxy. (Stargate, SG1: "The Enemy Within", "Moebius, Part 1", "Moebius, Part 2")

Into the galaxy

Tau'ri ships

With population growth, technology was able to be built, giving the Tau'ri advantages over other human populations in the galaxy. In 1996 the Tau'ri figured out a way to activate their Stargate and traveled out into the galaxy, coming face-to-face with Ra and managed to defeat him. A year later, the Tau'ri began regular exploration of other worlds through the Stargate, collecting new technologies and meeting with numerous races. (Stargate, SG1: "Children of the Gods", "The Enemy Within")

A year later, the Tau'ri made contact with the Asgard and began to take steps towards become allies. With access to portions of an Ancient database and other tech the Tau'ri began to develop their own interstellar ships and took their place as a power in the galaxy. The Tau'ri also began to explore other galaxies such as the Pegasus and Ori galaxies and defeated the empire of the Goa'uld, stopping the Replicator attack on the galaxy, diminishing the Wraith fleet and population and defeating the Ori and freeing two galaxies. (SG1: "Thor's Chariot", "The Fifth Race", "Tangent", "Redemption, Part 1", "Prometheus", ATL: "Rising", Stargate: The Ark of Truth, SG1: "Threads")
