The Taranians were a race of humans from Taranis.
Overview
The Taranians had advances in technology from using Ancient technology. (ATL: "Inferno")
History
The Taranians had been experimenting with Ancient technology on their planet for some years. When they started to detect increased Wraith activity they turned on the Ancient shield that they had and began accepting refugees from other worlds displaced by the Wraith. When Sheppard's team arrived on their planet, they discovered that the shield had been on continuously for over a year. The shield drew energy from an active supervolcano which had become unstable from the continual shield usage and the expedition began evacuations, however the Stargate was swallowed by lava flows and the Daedalus had to make several trips to ferry the people from the planet. The Taranians resettled on another planet but were found by Michael Kenmore and the people were used in his experiments. (ATL: "Inferno", "Vengeance")
