Symbiote

A symbiote is an organism that lives with or off another organism receiving and/or giving benefits. The Goa'uld and Tok'ra are both symbiotes and require a host in order to survive as well as providing the host with physical benefits such as long life, increased strength and perfect health as well as some aesthetic qualities such as glowing eyes and altering the voice to become louder and overbearing. The Tok'ra have a more symbiotic relationship with their hosts allowing one another to have control without interference from the other.
