Biography
Life under Ra
Skaara was born on Abydos believing for many years that Ra, who intermittently showed up to be a god to be both feared and worshiped. When the team arrived from Earth, Skaara was among the first of the Abydonians to see them. O'Neill attempted to communicate with him by shaking his hands which seemed to frighten Skaara who ran off to get his father, Kasuf. Skaara was very interested in the team and their equipment, O'Neill offered Skaara a cigarette when he saw him smoking and Skaara attempted to touch O'Neill's weapon which O'Neill got mad at Skaara telling him it was dangerous.
He and some other Abydonian boys helped O'Neill locate Daniel Jackson using one of the Mastadges. Skaara and the boys followed O'Neill and the others back to the pyramid and witnessed their capture by Ra's guards. He and the other boys found the abandoned base camp and the weapons left behind and used them to help the capture men escape during a public execution. Later he helped them attack the pyramid where he saw the death of his friend, Nabeh. Skaara was upset at having to surrender to the guards, an action which saved their lives, but was overjoyed when the other Abydonians arrived to help rebel against Ra. (Stargate)
Klorel
Just over a year later, the System Lord Apophis arrived and took both Skaara and his sister Sha're to be used as hosts. They were placed in a prison on Chulak until Sha're was taken off and Skaara was left with the others. Eventually the members of SG-1 arrived and were also imprisoned where they witnessed Skaara being chosen to become a host and taken off. Next they saw Skaara he had been taken over by a Goa'uld, the son of Apophis, Klorel. (SG1: "Children of the Gods")
As a host, Skaara was forced to lead part of Apophis' army against Earth. When Klorel was stunned, Skaara managed to resurface and was briefly able to ask them for forgiveness as he knew their plans to attack Earth. O'Neill was forced to shot Klorel dead and also killed Skaara, luckily however, Bra'tac placed them into a sarcophagus and revived them. Apophis' ships were destroyed but he and Klorel escaped before they exploded. Klorel was later in battle with Heru'ur's forces and was forced to crash land on Tollana where he asked for help before Klorel took control again. Per the Tollan custom Klorel and Skaara were given a hearing to decide what to do, Skaara won, Klorel was removed from him and he returned to Abydos. (SG1: "Within the Serpent's Grasp", "The Serpent's Lair", "Pretense")
Freedom
Three years later, Skaara was betrothed to another Abydonian woman but before they were wed Anubis came to Abydos to find the Eye of Ra and Skaara helped SG-1 look for it. When they found the hidden room, Anubis' forces arrived and they were cut off from the Stargate and Skaara was critically injured. Before he died, Oma Desala, who had been watching Daniel the whole time, allowed for Skaara to ascend. (SG1: "Full Circle")

Morality and Wisdom
Skaara is very caring for his people, willing to put his own life on the line to help them and even to help others. Skaara is a gentle individual who envisioned his life as simple, getting married, having children, growing old and dying until he was taken as a host by Klorel. As Oma Desala allowed Skaara to ascend she would have sensed how pure of spirit he was and the good in his heart. (Stargate, SG1: "Children of the Gods", "Pretense", "Full Circle")

Skaara quickly learned how to operate Tau'ri weapons during his time on Abydos as well as learning quickly how to use O'Neill's lighter from seeing it done once. Following his time as host to Klorel, Skaara gained the ability to use some Goa'uld technology such as the hand device due to the presence of Naquadah in his blood.
