Runner

A Runner is a person who has been captured by the Wraith, implanted with a tracking device and released in order to be hunted down by other Wraith either for sport or for training.
Overview
Runners have the tracking device implanted next to their spine on their back so it cannot be removed easily or by the runner themselves. Runners tend to stay by themselves as they will often inadvertently lead Wraith hunting parties to inhabited planets and they never stay in one place to often. It is believed that there are still five runners in the Pegasus galaxy. (ATL: "Runner", "Tracker", "Sateda")
Known Runners
History
Ronon Dex was turned into a runner when his planet, Sateda, was culled several years ago, during which he attempted to remove the tracking device himself and once inadvertently led the Wraith to a planet and they were culled. Ronon was later recaptured and turned back into a runner, placed on Sateda he had to hunt the Wraith back in order to survive. Several years later, another runner, Kiryk was found and his tracking device was disabled. It is not known if the other subspace signals from the tracking devices were investigated.
