Recharging plates are devices on board Destiny which can wirelessly recharge devices place on it.
Overview
There is at least one of these devices on Destiny. A device is simply placed on top of the plate and when activated will wirelessly recharge the device. The plate was modified by Hunter Riley to work with Tau'ri technology such as flash lights and radios, however leaving the device on the plate for too long will damage the device. (SGU: "Darkness")
History
The device was named by Sgt. Riley who demonstrated its function to Col. Young by recharging a flashlight in several seconds. Col. Young then ordered him not to use the device as Destiny's power supply was low. Later as Destiny was preparing for its trans-galactic voyage, it entered into a power saving mode, and the plates were deactivated and Dr. Volker attempted to bring them back on line.
