Physiology

The organism exhibits characteristics of both plants and animals, similar to coral, and has an amazing growth rate which almost defies the laws of thermodynamics. This organism exists mostly as an underground system of roots however it can also exist above ground usually in a wide expanse of white flowers which change colour when in close proximity to other fauna.

The organism has tendrils which extend above ground when close to other animals which will sting in order to infect other organisms in order to spread. The organism is likely able to sense vibrations in the ground in order to follow other animals in order to infect them. The infected animal will still be able to move around but soon will become incapacitated. The infected area will soon become a purple hardened growth which is believed to eventually burst open and release spores in order to spread.

The hardened growths are resistance to most Earth medicines and Hydrochloric acid as well as Squiggler venom. The growth is resistant to fire however the organism is repelled by it, as well as the unstable vortex of a Stargate. The Nakai pathogen appears to be the only means of protection against or eradication of the infection in humans. (SGU: "Cloverdale")

History.gifHistory

A team from Destiny travelled to a planet to acquire food and water and Matthew Scott was infected by the organism and soon became unconscious and developed a hardened growth on his left arm. During this infection he experienced a vivid dream about marrying Chloe Armstrong in the fictional town of Cloverdale.

The organism followed the team as they journeyed back to the Stargate where Sgt Greer set up a defensive position around the gate using flamethrowers in order to drive the organism away. One of the tendrils was destroyed in the unstable vortex of the Stargate. The infection in Matthew Scott was cured with a transfusion of Chloe Armstrong’s blood which was infected with the Nakai pathogen. (SGU: "Cloverdale")
