Overview
Physiology
The Nox are humanoid in appearance but with paler skin and are capable of reaching over 500 years in age. Nox also possess a wide range of advanced mental abilities such as heightened intellect and are able to comprehend and learn different communication styles very quickly. They also have the ability to make themselves and other beings and objects invisible, most likely shifting them into an alternate dimension, allowing objects to pass through. Nox are capable of reviving the recently dead using the Ritual of Life. (SG1: "The Nox")
Culture
The Nox are highly respectful of nature, getting their food from the forest of their homeworld and living in a very naturalistic way. Nox are also very respectful of other living beings, not directly interfering or aiding in harming or killin others but will prevent beings from remaining dead, reviving them and helping anyone regardless of their intentions towards the Nox or towards others. (SG1: "The Nox", "Enigma", "Pretense")
Social Structure
- "They do not wish to meet you."
- — Antaeus
It appears that the Nox do have leadership of a sort, who live elsewhere, possibly on the Nox City and have no interest in meeting any outsiders. (SG1: "The Nox")
Technology
Despite being naturalistic in nature, it appears the Nox have some degree of technology:
History
The Nox had many interactions with the Ancients, the Furlings and the Asgard, joining the Alliance of Four Great Races, however over thousands of years they appeared to have lost or neglected contact with the others. SG-1 arrived on their homeworld in 1997 and met with them, discovering that they possessed very advanced abilities and prevented SG-1 from killing Apophis, who was on the planet hunting another creature. Some time later, with help from the Tollan, Stargate Command made contact with the Nox who sent Lya to Earth to allow the Tollans to live with them on their planet. (SG1: "The Fifth Race", "Enigma")
At some point the Nox helped the Tollan devise the means to reach their new homeworld, Tollana. When the Goa'uld Klorel crashed on Tollana, his host Skaara asked for help and by their law, they held a trial and asked the Nox to send a neutral representative. Lya arrived and weighed in on the trial, stating that Skaara had right to his body. Teal'c had previously asked Lya to help him hide one of the Tollan Ion Cannons because he believed the Goa'uld representative Zipacna was planning an attack. When the attack took place, Lya revealed the weapon and Teal'c used it to destroy the ships in orbit. (SG1: "Pretense")
