Light year

A Light year is a unit of length, equal to just under 10 trillion kilometers. Light years are often used to measure the distance between stars, planets and other celestial bodies. Stargates are generally light years apart. The Ancient vessel Destiny is several billion light years away from Earth. (SG1: "Children of the Gods", SGU: "Air, Part 1")
