Early life

During childhood, Jeannie would leave lights on all over the house and blamed it on her brother. Jeannie was perusing a career in physics when she met Kaleb and her priorities shifted, she was on the verge of receiving some lucrative grants for her work but married Kaleb and started a family. McKay argued with her over these choices and the two did not speak for four years. (ATL: "Tao of Rodney", "McKay and Mrs. Miller")

Atlantis

One day while playing with her daughter, she came up with the idea of bridging universes and was encouraged by her husband to send it to Graeme Peel at Caltech which eventually made its way to Samantha Carter who attempted to recruit Jeannie to work with Stargate Command. Jeannie refused to sign the non-disclosure agreement and so McKay returned to Earth to convince her to sign it and work with him. The two went to Atlantis and worked on creating a matter bridge. She was very interested in finding out about her alternate life when another McKay arrived from an alternate reality. After this event Jeannie was able to reconcile with her brother before returning to Earth on the Daedalus. (ATL: "McKay and Mrs. Miller")

Jeannie continued to correspond with her brother, helping him with some of his work. One night men broke into her house and kidnapped her. It was discovered that her email was tapped and she was kidnapped by Henry Wallace so as to help his daughter Sharon who was dying by fixing the problems that he was having with the nanites he injected into her to save her life. McKay was later kidnapped and forced to help as well, and as incentive, Jeannie was also injected with the nanites, which would shut down her brain in an attempt to fix her epilepsy. McKay had her placed in a medically-induced coma and broke her legs to give the nanites something else to work on while he came up with a solution to save her. (ATL: "Miller's Crossing")

Later she was called to Atlantis after her brother began to suffer from the Second Childhood and asked them why they did not tell her sooner. When she heard about the Shrine of Talus, she wanted to take him there but Dr. Jennifer Keller was opposed to this. Jeannie, however, as McKay's next of kin decided that she wanted to take him there. When they arrived they learned that a unique radiation was negating the effects of the Second Childhood and a plan was developed to operate on McKay there and remove the parasite. Jeannie modified a Life Signs Detector to allow Keller to be able to see the parasite in order to operate on him. (ATL: "The Shrine")
