Physiology

Humans are a bipedal form comprising of two sexes: male and female. Humans reproduce through sexual means via cellular meiosis and require periodical nutrients from food and water, being able to surive without food for several days and without water for four or five days. Some humans possess the Ancient Technology Activation gene indicating their ancetors may have been Ancients. (SG1: "Revelations", "Hide and Seek", "Rising")

The Human anatomy

All humans are similar in appearance however some species have developed certain distinctive traits from being on other planets for many generations or through technological means such as the Enkarans who developed less of a tolerance for solar radiation and the Orbanians who increased their synaptic prowess through nanite technology. (SG1: "Watergate", "Scorched Earth", "Learning Curve")

Humans have a wide variety of organs and systems for proper function of their bodies such as a brain, bones, a spine, a larynx, blood and many more. Humans also have a comprehensive immune system capable of fighting off bacterial infections and viruses. Humans are also subject to a myriad of illnesses and diseases such as Hypoglycemia and heart attacks. (SG1: "Children of the Gods", "The Enemy Within", ATL: "Miller's Crossing", "The Seed", "Thirty-Eight Minutes")

Culture

The Madronans, a distinct culture

Many human cultures in the Milky Way evolved from ancient Earth cultures such as Ancient Egypt, Mesopotamia and Greece. These cultures evolved over time to become much different from their original counterparts however remaining very similar. Some humans however abandoned their original cultures and created entirely new ones in no way similar to those of ancient earth. (Stargate, SG1: "Enigma")

In the Pegasus galaxy some cultures were influenced by the Ancients usually perceiving them as god-like and working them into their religious beliefs however many more simply view them as great ancestors who deserve their reverence. These cultures were forced into a state of stagnation due to the cullings by the Wraith. The humans in the Ori galaxy were formed to a certain culture by the religion created by the Ori. (ATL: "Hide and Seek", "The Brotherhood", SG1: "Avalon, Part 2")

Technology

Human Technology is also varied. Some races have primitive technology using spears and bows while others have advanced technology some even rivaling the Goa'uld and the Wraith. (SG1: "Enigma", ATL: "Condemned")

The Dakara device activates

Creation

Humans originated millions of years ago in the Ori galaxy across the universe in the original human form. At some point a philosophical division among the populations resulted in the creation of two separate races - the Ori and the Alteran. Escaping religious persecution and possible extinction the Alterans left the galaxy and journeyed into the unknown. (Stargate: The Ark of Truth)

They came across the Milky Way galaxy and settled on a planet they called Terra (Earth). Over time their civilization rose and they flourished however a virulent Plague spread across the galaxy and wiped out many of them as well as much other life. The Alterans used a device to reseed the galaxy and then seeded Earth with a less-advanced form of themselves, Humans. (SG1: "Avalon, Part 2", "Threads")

Withdrawing to the Pegasus galaxy the Alterans, then called the Lanteans, seeded many worlds in the Pegasus galaxy with human life which flourished. Unfortunately the rise of humans interfered with another creature, the Iratus bug and led to the creation of the Wraith. Back on Earth, humans had evolved into primitive forms and were soon found by the Goa'uld Ra. Back in the Ori galaxy, the Ori, as ascended beings, created humans to worship them.(ATL: "Rising", "Instinct", Stargate, SG1: "Avalon, Part 2")

Subjugation

For thousands of years across these three galaxies humans were subject to subjugation by more powerful species. The Ori managed to devise a way to siphon energy from their followers and created Origin, a religion that provided them with the means to keep their populations subservient. (SG1: "Origin", "The Fourth Horseman, Part 2")

The humans in the Pegasus galaxy were subject to death and fear at the hands of the Wraith. They Wraith would cull the populations of the galaxy and use them as a food source, ensuring that the people would never grow too large and never become a threat to them. In the Milky Way the humans were used as slaves and hosts to the Goa'uld for generations being forced to mine Naquadah for the Goa'uld or being forcefully taken as hosts by them. (ATL: "Rising", SG1: "Children of the Gods", "The Enemy Within")

Notes.gifNotes

The humans on Earth have been known to have developed into modern humans (Homo sapiens) from at least two other previous evolutionary forms Australopithecus and Homo erectus. Whether other humans elsewhere underwent this specific evolution is unknown. (SG1: "The Broca Divide")
