Biography
Early life
Landry was a "big boy" in his youth, later he served in the Vietnam War and was flying air support out of Bien Hoa when his plane was hit and he had to eject. He landed near the Laotian border and cut up his knee, having to make his way to safety with half a battalion of North Vietnamese regulars after him. Landry met Kim Lam and the two married for 12 years, having a daughter named Carolyn. Landry was often away from his family for a long time something which Carolyn came to resent about him. (SG1: "Uninvited", "Family Ties")
Stargate Command
Landry was assigned as commander of Stargate Command hand-picked by Major General Jack O'Neill. Landry helped debrief Dr. Elizabeth Weir after she returned to Earth from Atlantis, informing her that Colonel Steven Caldwell would be placed in charge of the military personnel on the base, something Weir protested against, having John Sheppard promoted instead. Landry informed Col. Cameron Mitchell that he would have to chose the other members of SG-1. Landry later met with Gerak, the new leader of the Free Jaffa Nation for a meeting to discuss the future of the galaxy and how they could work together. (SG1: "Avalon, Part 1", ATL: "The Intruder", SG1: "Avalon, Part 2", "Origin")
The Senate Appropriations Committee allowed Landry and SG-1 to brief them concerning the Ori threat when it was decided to reduce the SGC's budget 70%. Due to Vala Mal Doran's actions at the hearing, Landry wanted her gone as soon as possible and authorized a mission to find a way to break the physiological bond between her and Daniel Jackson so they could be separated without killing them. Landry had to accept IOA oversight in order to keep funding for the base. Landry met his daughter, the new head of the SGC's medical division, for lunch and attempt to mend their strained relationship. (SG1: "The Ties That Bind", "The Powers That Be")
Landry allowed the Goa'uld Nerus to come to Stargate Command, despite warnings from Vala and Teal'c, to brief them of an Ori beachhead being constructed. When it was discovered that Nerus had deceived SG-1 into helping create the beachhead, Landry had Nerus imprisoned at Area 51, with the prospect of little food, so he would have to devise a way to stop the Ori. He later sent Dr. Jackson to investigate the appearance of a Jaffa on Earth, which was found to be tied to Ba'al, who was hiding on Earth. Landry authorized the use of symbiote poison to stop Ba'al. When Col Mitchell went missing on P9G-844, Landry sent UAV's and the Prometheus to locate him. (SG1: "Beachhead", "Ex Deus Machina", "Babylon")
When the advanced being Khalek was brought to the SGC and found to be a clone of Anubis, Landry had him placed under guard. Khalek was to be put back into a stasis pod on the planet he was found however Landry was told by Jackson and Carter that is the last place Khalek should be, so Landry had him restrained. When the Ori plague broke out on Earth, Landry helped coordinate efforts to contain its spread. Landry went offworld when a Prior was captured to try to convince the Prior to help however Landry was also infected with the plague. He became very ill and almost died before Gerak, who had previously been converted into a Prior, cured him. (SG1: "Prototype", "The Fourth Horseman, Part 1", "The Fourth Horseman, Part 2")
When Col. Mitchell was implicated in the murder of a woman on another planet, Landry did not want him to investigate the matter himself, but in the end allowed this to be resolved. With the arrival of an SG-1 from an alternate reality, Landry questioned the alternate Mitchell. More teams from alternate realities began to arrive and Landry was forced to turn many away to stop them from becoming trapped. When a solution was found Landry allowed at least one team to have a sample of the cure to the Ori plague to take back and save their world. Landry was informed by Agent Malcolm Barrett that The Trust had planted a bomb in Atlantis and he ordered Dr. Bill Lee to devise a means to warn Atlantis. (SG1: "Collateral Damage", "Ripple Effect", ATL: "Critical Mass")
Landry authorized the use of the Galaran Memory device on Bryce Ferguson, a friend of Col. Mitchell, who was dying allowing him to witness some of the things Mitchell had seen and done. Landry also authorized a rescue mission to retrieve Teal'c who had been captured by Ba'al. Some time later Landry was called to Washington D.C. leaving Col. Mitchell and Col. Carter in charge in his place. After SG-1 went missing, Landry sent the Odyssey to locate them, discovering that Stargates were disappearing across the galaxy he traveled to Area 51 to interrogate Nerus, offering a large feast should Nerus provide credible intelligence. The only means to find out where Ba'al was located was to released Nerus, luckily Landry foresaw Nerus' deception and had a tracking device implanted on him, allowing SG-1 to track down Ba'al and the missing Stargates. (SG1: "Stronghold", "Ethon", "Off the Grid")
Landry ordered SG-1 to accompany IOA delegates to the Gamma Site on an inspection of the offworld base. When it was discovered that the base had been overrun by the R-75 Landry authorized the Odyssey to enact Protocol CR-91 - releasing a toxin to kill them along with any other living thing on the planet. Luckily SG-1 and the IOA delegates managed to survive. He later sent Teal'c with SG-22 to investigate what had happened to the Sodan and had Dr. Jackson and Dr. Lee investigate the disappearance of Col. Mitchell and Col. Carter. (SG1: "The Scourge", "Arthur's Mantle")
Ori invasion
When Vala Mal Doran contacted Earth through the long-range communication stones Landry was briefed by her on the Ori galaxy and the ships they were constructing. Landry met with IOA representatives from Russia and China who advised him that Russia would no longer be loaning their Stargate to the US, which Landry was able to maintain in return for Russia getting the next 304 off the assembly line. Realizing their only chance to stop the Ori was to find Merlin's weapon, Landry let SG-1 travel to Camelot to locate it. Unable to locate it quickly, three Ori ships arrived through the newly constructed Supergate, decimating the fleet that had come to stop them. Landry met with Richard Woolsey to discuss options for defending Earth. (SG1: "Crusade", "Camelot", "Flesh and Blood")
When Atlantis contacted Earth to inform them that two Wraith Hive ships were on their way, Landry informed Dr. Weir that the IOA wanted her to return to Earth for review. Dr. Jackson attempted to convince Landry to allow Vala to join SG-1, following her psychiatric evaluation. Landry found her trying to study for the evaluation, telling her it was a pointless endeavor, later he revealed to her that she had passed but was only a probationary SGC member. When an Al'kesh arrived at Earth and no communications could be established, Landry ordered it shot down. Ba'al was discovered on board, wanting help in stopping his clones, which Landry ordered SG teams to track down and bring back to the SGC. When the clones broke out, Landry ordered symbiote poison to be released in order to stop them. (ATL: "No Man's Land", SG1: "Morpheus", "Insiders")
Landry "invited" SG-1 to join him at Jack O'Neill's cabin for some time off and to better get to know one another. During this time a strange creature began attacking other hunters in the area so Landry and Mitchell, the only two at the cabin, went in search for the creature. Landry asked the Sheriff to close the area down to prevent anyone else from getting hurt. A Trust operative was found in the area using a Sodan Cloaking device which had inadvertently caused this dangerous creature to be created. A massive SGC effort managed to stop the creature. Afterwards he and SG-1 found some time to enjoy the cabin and play Poker. Some time later, Bra'tac visited Landry and informed him that the Jaffa High Council had used the Dakara device to wipe out a population who had joined the Ori. Landry met with Se'tak, the leader of the Free Jaffa Nation to get him to stop using the device and dismantle it. (SG1: "Uninvited", "Counterstrike")
When Vala was kidnapped by The Trust, Landry ordered teams to locate her. After she was recovered, Landry made her an official member of SG-1. After the Lucian Alliance captured the Odyseey Landry sent SG-1 to find out what had happened. When Vala and Jackson were also captured, Landry allowed Mitchell to go undercover within the Alliance and find out what happened to them. Following the capture of Atlantis by the Asurans, Landry ordered that the Daedalus journey there and detonate a nuclear weapon to destroy the city and had Dr. Lee devise a means to destroy the gate bridge to ensure the Asurans did not make it to Earth. (SG1: "Memento Mori", "Company of Thieves", ATL: "The Return, Part 1", "The Return, Part 2")
Landry authorized that Merlin's phase shifting device be used to hide a planet who had been targeted by the Ori forces. Landry met with General O'Neill to discuss what to do with Daniel Jackson, who had been converted into a Prior and had been captured. Discovering that the Lucian Alliance had placed a bounty on SG-1, Landry contacted both Carter and Mitchell and warned them. He later authorized a mission to locate the Clava Thessara Infinitas. When an attack against the Jaffa injured Teal'c, he requested to Landry that he be allowed to hunt down the Jaffa responsible, Arkad, however Landry refused to authorize it, stating that his actions could be construed as the view of Earth and put them in further danger. After Teal'c left of his own free will, Landry sent the rest of SG-1 to stop him. (SG1: "Line in the Sand", "The Shroud", "Bounty", "Bad Guys", "Talion")
He allowed Vala's father Jacek to seek asylum on Earth in exchange for information on an attack, however had to constantly send SG-1 to talk to Jacek after he was found running various scams. Landry had dinner with his daughter and his ex-wife. Landry sent SG-1 to investigate a meeting of the Ba'al clones, find them all dead. Following this he sent them to capture Adria. When invited to Orilla, Landry commanded the Odyssey. After the Ori ships showed up and attacked them, Landry ordered them to use the new Asgard Plasma beam weapons to destroy one of the ship and then had to leave. Discovering that the Priors were tracking them and attacking them whenever they dropped out of hyperspace, Landry ordered all non-essential personnel transported off to a world with a Stargate while he and SG-1 brought the ship home. During an attempt to stop the ships from tracking them, a Teal'c from an alternate future arrived, taking his counterparts place and helped them escape unharmed. (SG1: "Family Ties", "Dominion", "Unending")
While SG-1 was off finding a means to stop the Ori followers, a Prior was brought to Earth and asked Landry that he be allowed to speak to the people of Earth and let them decide whether to accept Origin, however Landry refused. Later Landry had the Ark of Truth shown to the Prior, showing him the Ori were not gods, and then had the Ark sent to Area 51 for study, despite Dr. Jackson's warnings about the device. Landry declined an invitation to go to the Tok'ra homeworld and witness the removal of Ba'al from his host. A year later Landry was still in command of the SGC, but was heading a task force in Washington D.C leaving Col. Carter in charge. (Stargate: The Ark of Truth, Stargate: Continuum, ATL: "Enemy at the Gate")
