Overview.gifOverview

Physiology

The Goa'uld queens differ in certain ways to regular Goa'uld. They have a different appearance, a more rougher and darker skin. The Goa'uld queen can use a genetic sample from the desired host to allow for a more effective blending, however this is not required. Goa'uld queens can spawn symbiotes when in a host or when not and there does not appear to be any difference in numbers either way. The queen has the conscious effort whether to provide the symbiotes with genetic memory but without the symbiote is essentially a blank slate. When not in a host the queen grow a large sac attached to its underside until the symbiotes are birthed, this sac can also be detached to allow the queen the enter a host, most likely killing the immature symbiotes. History.gifHistory

A fossilized queen

Tok'ra

2,000 years ago the Goa'uld queen Egeria feeling that the Goa'uld were wrong in forcing humans to be their hosts, spawned a batch of symbiotes without the inherit behavior of the Goa'uld, creating the Tok'ra. After this Egeria was captured by Ra and placed in stasis on Pangar, however it became common belief that she had been killed. (SG1: "Cure")

Hathor's symbiotes

Hathor

The Goa'uld queen Hathor was placed in her sarcophagus in a pyramid where she slept until 1997 when she was found by two archaeologists and released. She made her way to Stargate Command, drawn to the Naquadah in the Stargate, and attempted a take over of the base using a variation of Nish'ta to get all the male personnel to do her bidding. She got some genetic material from Daniel Jackson through sexual intercourse and spawned a new brood of symbiotes in order to create an army, however these symbiotes were all killed and Hathor escaped. Two years later Hathor had created another brood of symbiotes and built up an army, however she was eventually killed and her line ended. (SG1: "Hathor", "Out of Mind", "Into the Fire")

Pangaran Cure

Egeria was found by the Pangarans who found some information on Goa'uld breeding and the increased health of the symbiotes they spawned and started experimentation on the queen. She began to spawn symbiotes and the Pangarans eventually managed to create a serum called Tretonin from these symbiotes to increase health. Egeria, wanting the Pangarans to abandon their research, sabotaged her young, not passing on the genetic knowledge, which diminished the effectiveness of the serum, however the Pangarans continued to make it. (SG1: "Cure")

Kull warriors

Anubis probed Jonas Quinn's mind and found knowledge of the Pangarans and Egeria, he used that knowledge to create "blank slate" symbiotes which he used to create the Kull in conjunction with other technology. These warriors proved to be more loyal than the Jaffa due to them not having any semblance of free will. (SG1: "Evolution, Part 1", "Evolution, Part 2")
