Tau'ri homeworld

Under control of

Tau'ri (present) Ancients, Goa'uld (past)

"There is a tale of a primitive world the Goa'uld discovered millenia ago. The Tau'ri. The First World where forms of this type first evolved. It is said the Goa'uld harvested among the primitives, some became Goa'uld hosts, others became jaffa, the rest were taken as slaves and seeded among the stars to serve them. But that world has been lost for centuries."
Teal'c

Earth, also known as Terra in Ancient, Tau'ri in Goa'uld and Midgardr to the Asgard and designated P2X-3YZ by the Tau'ri, is the original homeworld of all human populations in the Milky Way galaxy and the former home of the Ancients.

Overview.gifOverview

Earth has a nice, habitable and comfortable climate capable of supporting human life and has been so for at least 50 million years. The planet had trees, water and mountains as well as millions of animal species. (ATL: "The Hive", SG1: "Enigma")

Atlantis on Earth

The Ancients colonised Earth at least fifty million years ago, placing a Stargate on the continent now known as Antarctica. From Earth they launched the Destiny and the Stargate Seed ships to explore the universe and create a Stargate Network. Antarctica was also the location of Atlantis when the continent was much closer to the equator.

The SG-1 inspired rebellion on Earth

Five to ten million years ago, the Ancients left on Atlantis after the devastating effects of the Plague and traveled to the Pegasus galaxy. The Ancients returned from Pegasus around 8,000 BC after their war with the Wraith; some integrated into some early Earth societies, some breeding with the humans passing on the ATA gene and influencing the Greeks and the Romans, they inspired the myth of Atlantis and left traces of their language behind. (SG1: "Lost City, Part 2", "Avalon, Part 2", ATL: "Rising")

Around this time, the Goa'uld Ra arrived on Earth and found the primitive human populations taking many of them as hosts and slaves. Ra ruled over Earth until 3,005 BC when the Egyptians led an uprising against him causing him to flee Earth and the Stargate was buried. (Stargate, SG1: "Moebius, Part 2")

Due to the isolation of Earth, no other Goa'uld ever lay claim to the planet and the Tau'ri were able to grow and prosper in peace. The Stargate lay buried until 1928 and it wasn't until 1997 was it discovered how to access the Stargate network and venture out into the galaxy. Since then the Tau'ri have explored the Milky Way and have been responsible, to varying degress, for the defeat of the dominant races of the galaxy including the Goa'uld and the Replicators, as well as organizing the destruction of the Asuran threat in the Pegasus galaxy. The Tau'ri are also responsible for awakening the Wraith in Pegasus galaxy-wide. (SG1: "Children of the Gods", "Threads", ATL: "Rising", "Be All My Sins Remember'd", "Enemy at the Gate")

Alternate timelines.gifAlternate Timelines

  • In an alternate timeline accidently created by SG-1, the Stargate was taken off of earth by Ra during the rebellion and the Stargate program never existed. (SG1: "Moebius, Part 1")
  • In an alternate timeline, Ba'al traveled back to 1939 and stopped the Stargate from being taken to America, thereby having the Stargate program never exist and the Goa'uld never being defeated. Earth was soon attacked by a fleet of Ha'tak vessels. (Stargate: Continuum)
