- "Cronus is the most influential of the System Lords. It was he who originally banished Sokar. Cronus was also a mortal enemy of Apophis."
- — Teal'c
Cronus was a Goa'uld and former System Lord.
Biography
Ronac, the father of Teal'c, served as First Prime of Cronus a few hundred years ago but when Ronac failed to win an unwinnable battle, Cronus crushed Ronac's symbiote while it was still inside him, killing Ronac. Cronus was the system lord who originally banished Sokar and had an intense rivalry with Apophis. Cronus sent an Ashrak to hunt down Jolinar of Malkshur and then attacked a village on Nasya where Jolinar was hiding. (SG1: "Fair Game", "In the Line of Duty")
Cronus came to Earth for a treaty negotiation with the Asgard to include Earth in the Protected Planets Treaty. Cronus was attacked by Nirrti, using a cloaking device, in an attempt to sabotage the treaty as well as get rid of Cronus. Samantha Carter used a Goa'uld Healing device to heal Cronus of his wounds and save his life; in return Cronus allowed Earth to keep their Stargate and allowed Earth to be included in the treaty. Cronus later came to Juna when SG-1 were captured there. Cronus has one of the locals kill Daniel Jackson and was surprised to find Jackson was an android. When the real SG-1 arrived, Cronus attempted to kill the real Teal'c in the same manner he had killed Teal'c father, however he was shot in the back by the android Teal'c and died. (SG1: "Crossroads", "Double Jeopardy")
Alternate Timelines
- In an alternate timeline, Cronus served as one of Ba'al's lieutenants joining in with his invasion of Earth. Cronus sent his forces to check on Earth before Ba'al's fleet arrived. When Qetesh killed Ba'al she hailed Cronus and told him that he could begin the attack on Earth. (Stargate: Continuum)
