Overview.gifOverview

Belkan was a world known to the Athosians in the early 21st century, and was of particular interest to them due to a particular agrarian achievement. The Belkans had bred a particular strain of disease-resistant flax seed. (ATL: "Trinity")

History.gifHistory

By the early 21st century, the Belkans had achieved a level of development roughly on par with medieval Earth. They had made advances in agriculture, and mastered stone masonry in addition to being able to produce glass and dyed cloth. (ATL: "Trinity")

Sometime after the destruction of the Satedan civilization in 1998, some members of that society began to appear on Belkan. One of the most notable of these was a former task master named Kell, who established his own arms-trading criminal enterprise. (ATL: "Trinity")

In 2005, Athosian leader Teyla Emmagan arrived on Belkan to arrange a trade agreement between her people and the Belkans. She hoped to attain their disease-resistant flax seed for her people on Lantea, in exchange for labour and trade. The negotiations proceeded poorly until the forceful intervention of her companion Ronon Dex. (ATL: "Trinity")

The same day, Dex encountered a fellow Satedan survivor on Belkan, and from him learnt that a number of his people had also survived and settled elsewhere. The following day, Dex arranged a meeting with Satedan traitor Kell, and murdered him there. (ATL: "Trinity")
