Overview
The Aschen are relatively advanced with ships capable of interstellar travel and biotechnology weaponry. The Aschen rely on offworld sources of food to be provided for their population usually from planets within the Aschen Confederation. (SG1: "2001")
History
The Aschen discovered their Stargate buried but found no D.H.D and so were only able to dial planets within a short radius from their homeworld. They found Volia and offered the people medicine which sterilized the population, then moved in and covered over their cities with farm land. SG-1 made contact with the Volians who introduced them to the Aschen. The two entered into negotiations to allow Earth to enter the Aschen Confederation, but when it was discovered that the Aschen had almost wiped out the Volians, the negotiations ceased. (SG1: "2001")
Alternate Timelines
- In an alternate timeline, Earth entered into the Aschen Confedertion and received the Anti-Aging Vaccine, which actually sterilized a significant portion of the population which would have allowed the Aschen to claim Earth for themselves without fighting. The Aschen had also released a bio-weapon which wiped out most of the Goa'uld. (SG1: "2010")
